FAQ's

What is The Commons?

The Commons is a one-of-a-kind “town and country center” planned to be as unique as Davie and western Broward County. With an abundant mix of dining, fashion shopping, parks, and open space, as well as arts, leisure and cultural activities, The Commons will be a major source of new revenue for Davie and Broward County and a model of environmental sensitivity and efficiency.

When will The Commons be completed?

On Feb. 7th, the Davie Town Council voted to allow The Commons to proceed with the development review process. The next step is for the Broward County Commission to review and approve the land use application. At the same time, The Commons is working closely with the Florida Department of Transportation to safely and effectively implement interchange improvements on I-75. Once the approvals are granted by local and state authorities, The Commons will be completed in approximately three years.

Where will it be located?

The Commons will be located at the northeast corner of I-75 and Royal Palm Boulevard, with access only through the interchange, which will undergo millions of dollars in improvements paid for by the developer. There will be no commuter or visitor access to Shotgun Road or other neighborhood streets, except for emergency vehicles

How will The Commons benefit western Broward County?

In addition to providing a unique family-oriented destination, The Commons will provide approximately $3.5 million in first-year net new revenue to the local economy, and will continue to grow, while creating thousands of jobs.

How will The Commons mitigate impact on surrounding neighborhoods?

There will be no public access to neighborhood streets and extra-wide buffers and lakes will shield the project from nearby neighborhoods. And since The Commons will not include residential units, there will be no children added to our already over-crowded schools.

What will happen if The Commons is not approved?

Shotgun Road could face significantly increased traffic, schools may become even more crowded, and the area will receive nearly $3 million less in revenue if the property is developed into housing units as permitted under current land use codes.
